INSTRUCTIONS FOR INSTALLATION

Return to Gatorhide Travel Covers Page

Allow engine to cool before installation. Load motorcycle onto trailer or truck and apply tie-downs to handle bars, triple trees. Secure both front and rear tires. Fold accessories, kickstand, footrest, floorboards, etc, for the most compact profile.

Sport Model:

Step 1. Install Soft Washable "Fleece" Liner:
This liner protects paint, chrome, and polished surfaces. Locate the label Top Front and place on top front of gas tank. Drape liner over the body of the bike and tie attached cords under steering head. This will keep liner in place while installing outer cover.

Step 2. Body Outer Cover:
Locate the label Top Front and place over the liner at the top front of gas tank. Allow the cover to drape over the body of bike (similar to throwing a saddle on a horse). Position padded center section of cover along the top center of bike. Pull the right side of the cover under the belly of the motorcycle and secure with the full-length zipper along left side. This will enclose the entire body and rear wheel. If necessary, unzip the center belly panel. This zipper will allow additional room for forward mounted foot pegs, floor boards, small engine guards, etc. The two short bungee cords, with hooks, secure the closure at the rear of the cover.

Step 3. Bungee System (hook and eyelet tab):
The bungee system will achieve a tight wind-proof profile. Establish position of bungee hooks by securing hooks to appropriate eyelets. Tension bungee cords by adjusting cord through hooks from front to rear. Not to tight, just a good snap is all that's required.

Step 4. Front Cover:
The front cover operates much like the body cover. Drape the padded center section over the fender. Secure the bungee tie under and around steering head. The single zipper located on the left side (at bottom of front tire) pull up to the handlebars to enclose the cover. The bungee cord and hooks will provide a secure fit, if needed you can adjust the tension.

Other features of Sport Model:

Sissy Bar:
Locate zipper on top of rear fender. Open and then pull secured bag from cover and pull over the sissy bar. Secure with a bungee cord and attach to the provided eyelets. Tuck any additional material into cover.

Speedometer Cable Feature:
On a front wheel speedometer cable equipped bike a zipper opening is provided on the body cover and front wheel cover (either side). These openings will allow the cover to close around the front wheel speedometer cable. Unzip opening and place one half of the cover on the inside of cable and then close zipper.

Kick Stand Feature:
Bi-directional zipper allows for closure around exposed kickstand.

Instructions for Cruiser and Touring Model Covers

Cruiser Model Cover:

Body Cover:
Follow the previous instructions given for the Sport Model steps 1,2,3 and 4 installation. Eyelets (two, vertical ones) found near the front engine guard area of the body cover are used to tighten this area if engine guards are removed, they are not intended for tension system use.

Yoke Panel:
This removable panel allows you to modify the Cruiser Model to accept the Tour Pack of Luggage Rack option. If the Tour Pack is removed the Yoke can again be zipped into place for an aerodynamic profile.

Touring Model Front Cover:

Front Cover:
Features an inner liner to protect windshield and fairing paint. Place liner over windscreen and fairing (leave handlebars exposed), wrap around the front tire and fender. Use ties found on the left side of the tire to secure liner in place. Ties also found in handle bar, steering head area, secure these as well. Handle bars are to remain exposed for tie-down purposes.

Front Outer Cover:
The front outer cover fits over the liner. Attach the bungee cord around the steering head. Secure the bungee to the eyelets found near the stereo area at the back of fairing. The additional bungee attaches across stereo area (horizontally) to secure the flap. Now follow the steps on Step 4 of the Sport Model.
Reminders
  • Never put a cover on a dirty motorcycle, it may result in paint damage due to a sandpaper effect.
  • This cover is designed to go around the motorcycle. If the cover fails to properly accommodate your bike check that the cover is not around your tie down straps.
  • Keep handlebars exposed for tie down requirements.
  • Make sure that the liner material covers painted areas on body cover and under bungee cord contact areas.
  • To wash simply keep covers on motorcycle and use hose and soap with a mild brush. Remove from bike and hang dry. Liners are machine washable in cold water and hang to dry.
